About Our School

SEND

Special Education Needs and Disabilities

At Lady Lumley’s School the vision is for every child with SEND to “achieve at school, and make a successful transition to adulthood, including finding paid work, living independently and participating in their community” (Children and Families Act 2014).

Lady Lumley’s School is an inclusive school that provides for the full range of SEND needs: communication and interaction, cognition and learning, physical and/or sensory as well as social emotional and mental health needs.

Our aim is to ensure that children and young people with SEN and disabilities are given equal opportunities to thrive at school, to make good progress in their learning and to feel valued as members of the school community.

This philosophy is underpinned by the following:

  • All students are equally valued, and the school has high aspirations for all.
  • All students are the shared responsibility of all
  • All students are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum, which is personalised and focused on outcomes.
  • Teaching and learning will be adapted to suit the needs of learners and recognise different routes to achievement.
