Curriculum Structure

 

10-day (2 week) cycle, 30 x 100 minutes lessons

5 minutes registration (a.m.) + 20 minutes tutorial period / assembly / monitoring and guidance (p.m.)

Students are taught in mixed ability groups in all subject areas with the exception of Mathematics in KS 4.

PSHCE is delivered through a bespoke programme in Year 7, through cross-curricular themes across all subject areas and during afternoon tutorial periods and assemblies.

  • In Year 12 all students opt to study 4AS courses.
  • In Year 13 the majority of students reduce from 4 AS courses to 3 A2 courses with Option 4 becoming an additional timetabled study block.
  • Students have a choice of activities during Enrichment, these include: Sport, Gold D of E, Work Experience and Volunteering.
  • General Studies is delivered through our tutorial programme.
  • All students are encouraged to offer one period of service per cycle, this often includes supporting students lower down the school in lessons.
  • If students did not attain a Grade C in either Mathematics or English at GCSE compulsory re-sit lessons are timetabled
